Buying dried fruit in bulk

The variables that change your cost and your label are moisture, whether the fruit is sulphured, whether it is sugar-infused or “no added sugar”, and the piece grade. Sulphured apricots stay orange and soft; unsulphured fruit is brown and firmer and is required for organic and some clean-label programmes. Confirm the SO2 ppm and whether it must be declared in your market.

Piece grades

Whole, halved, diced and paste each carry a different price and suit different processes. Diced fruit for dough systems is usually coated to stop clumping — check the coating for your allergen statement.

Storage and shelf life

Dried fruit is hygroscopic. Keep it cool and sealed, and rotate stock. We can supply in moisture-barrier liners and, for figs and apricots, with a documented cold-treatment record for insect control.

Dried Fruits: buyer questions

What does "no added sugar" mean for dried fruit?

It means no sugar or juice infusion during drying. Cranberries and blueberries are normally infused because the fresh fruit is too tart; most other dried fruit is naturally "no added sugar". We label each lot clearly so your pack copy is accurate.

Can you meet a specific pesticide residue standard?

Yes. Tell us the destination market or your customer's standard (for example EU MRLs or a retailer list) and we will supply against it with a residue screen on the lot.
